I never planned to write for a living, but…

In third grade, my teacher asked us to write a story. I wrote a sequel, too, because for once an assignment didn’t feel like “homework.”

In high school, I took AP STEM classes to make colleges like me, but I used my assignment notebooks to draw galactic maps for a sci-fi novel.

In college, rather than studying ahead for my biology classes and the MCAT, I wrote letters to book agents (apologies to my first victims).

Finally, I read between the lines of my own story, and now, I'm putting those words to work.
